Database not restored from backup!

Moving a site to a different server (successfully running 1.9.1) via a backup. The files were restored, but I ended up with an empty database.

The backup log showed:
– DB –
2025-02-04 19:14:55 capitol_wp
/backup/tmp.zsdSLWd3RI/db/capitol_wp/capitol_wp.mysql.sql.zst: 26822572 bytes

But the database wasn’t populated.

When I try to manually restore the sql file I get:

ERROR at line 1: Unknown command ‘-’.

Line 1 looks like:
/*M!999999- enable the sandbox mode */

Remove the first line and it should work

Any idea why that first line has been added? This doesn’t bode well for restoring future backups.

This is caused by MariaDB in a newer version…

It is not caused by us
