I’ve noticed an issue on my HestiaCP server, when the spamd (SpamAssassin) service stops, Roundcube starts showing this error when trying to send emails:
SMTP Error: [451] Temporary local problem - please try later
At the same time, incoming emails also stop working.
As soon as I noticed that the spamd service was stopped and started it manually, the problem immediately disappeared, both sending and receiving began working again.
Is this expected behavior?
Shouldn’t Exim still deliver and accept emails even if spamd is down?
If not, is there a recommended way to make Exim skip the spam check temporarily (for example, using /defer_ok) so email flow doesn’t stop?
