Trying to figure out DNS with OVH dedicated server?

If you don’t use the option --hostname when installing Hestia, it will use you current hostname (in your case ns3152267.ip-51-89-173.eu).

Ahh. Thanks. My setup went differently as Rdns was already setup for the ip of the Hestia server and I wrongly assumed Hestia just set NS1,2 to the hostname

Once you execute this command and you can see the name servers ns1.tictactape.com and ns2.tictactape.com instead of ns1.ip-51-89-173.eu and ns1.ip-51-89-173.eu then you should start to worry about Hestia’s configuration.

Do any registrars verify what is put into the glue records before the values are accepted ? My fears were that they did so normally I get the zone working before updating the registrar glue records

They shouldn’t (I’ve never found one doing that).

quick question as a follow up. I can point them to NS to the Registrar’s DNS servers too yeah? Other than the @ A record with the IP listed? I’m sorry for all the questions asked and I’m trying to understand it all to get stuff functional. Like every domain can point there, but would the IP need to change for specific folders or how would that work? Again not used to using something like this, but trying to set it up to be easier in the future.

It is perplexing in all honesty how I’d go about stuff. Like I can have an A record for an IP on dotearth, and it’ll add the www. and what have you for the base domain, but it’s perplexing to me how exactly i’d go about things.

Also as a follow up question. What is the DNS support when I add a web domain?
