Hello danielv86, we found the ftp system very unreliable (also unsecured login and transfers) and we consider removing it in the future.
The recommended way for transferring files onto your server is using SFTP which is supported by all ftp clients like filezilla, winscp and totalcommander.
Also do not host sites under the admin account !, this has serious security implications.

At first I want to say that I agree with @Lupu that FTP is not secure.
Now, for @danielv86 problem, I’d like to add that quite some time ago, I faced problems with various FTP clients connecting to FTP sites. By trial and error, I found out that FileZilla is the most reliable.
