I promise I have scoured for help before signing up to ask for assistance.
I have been using HestiaCP for over 2 years now, no issue. A couple hours ago after an apt update, all mail accounts for all my clients stopped working and roundcube doesnt accept username and password.
I am so frustrated as I dont know where to even look. Dovecote is running fine.

Did the installer ask some questions like to override the current conf with a new conf file?

Let me guess what happened:
You ran apt upgrade, it upgraded a lot of packages, it asked to install newer conf file for PHP packages and you said yes, that messed your PHP conf and now roundcube doesn’t work… then you decided to:
apt-get purge --auto-remove dovecot-core dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d
apt-get install dovecot-core dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d
apt-get install --reinstall postfix
You removed Dovecot (including its configuration), reinstalled it, and installed Postfix (removing Exim, which is the mail server used by Hestia). Now, the system is unusable.
Recovering it could take time, and I’m sorry but I don’t have the time to guide you through all the necessary steps.

I didnt want to ask for help without trying to fix it myself (not be a nuisance) and I guess Ive made it worse out of exacerbation.

Fastest option create backups and reinstall the server

However, I have hit a new snag and Ive spent the entire weekend trying to resolve it and its now 1am Monday morning.
I made backups and moved all accounts onto my local machine (tar files).
Reinstalled HestiaCP - Fresh install
Added the usernames
Uploaded the backups as they were saved by the previous HestiaCP install and HestiaCP won’t recognise them. I tried changing ownership… hestiaweb:hestiaweb… username:hestiaweb… hestiaweb:username.
I’m at a total loss and since Thursday all my clients emails have been down. Really need assistance from someone please.
Move your backups to /backup/ dir and then use v-restore-user command.
Example using test user and the backup /backup/test.2025-05-31_05-10-02.tar
Note: You don’t need to use the full path /backup/test.2025-05-31_05-10-02.tar, only the file name test.2025-05-31_05-10-02.tar
v-restore-user test test.2025-05-31_05-10-02.tar

Everything seems to have restored, but I have a new issue whereby nobody can send any mail to any of my addresses.
Your message to xyz couldn’t be delivered.
xyz suspects your message is spam and rejected it.
This is happening on all emails. Any idea why or what I can do?
