I created a new configuration for the .conf domain name in /etc/php/8.4/fpm/pool.d
Then use sudo systemctl restart php8.4-fpm

I had a similar problem, when I installed 8.4 the mysql dependencies were not installed to be compatible with 8.4 (it worked fine in 8.2, 8.3 but not in 8.4), then I reinstalled 8.4 and the .conf file was generated correctly.

I make this comment in case you have any connection problem with 8.4 in the future.
