Hi everyone,
I’m running a HestiaCP-based mail server and I’m currently exploring revisionssichere (tamper-proof) email archiving solutions to stay compliant with regulations in Germany (specifically GoBD and GDPR). This is relevant for anyone using HestiaCP in a commercial context.
I came across Mailpiler, an open source project that looks promising for legally compliant archiving. My idea is to set it up via Docker or natively, either on the same server or a dedicated one, and then forward a copy of every incoming and outgoing mail via Exim to Mailpiler for archiving.
Before I dive deeper, I’d like to ask the community:
Has anyone already implemented Mailpiler with HestiaCP?
How are you handling reliable, long-term email archiving in your Hestia environments?
Are there any other open source or self-hosted tools you’d recommend for this purpose?
Tips for integrating such a system cleanly into Exim?
Thanks in advance – I’d appreciate any insights or example configs you can share!
Best regards
