Backup to FTP Server Without Creating a Local Copy

Hello! Thank you for supporting this forum.

I would like to clarify whether it’s possible to configure backups directly to an FTP storage without creating a local copy on the server. My server only has 35GB of disk space, out of which 20GB is already occupied by website files. Due to this, I cannot store local backups or even initiate the backup process because there isn’t enough free disk space.

I want to configure backups to be created directly on the FTP storage without generating a local backup copy.

If I understand correctly, by editing the system.pkg file, I can set the value BACKUPS='0', which would mean that storing backups on the server is disabled.

Will this configuration ensure that backups are performed directly to the FTP server? If not, how can I correctly set up backups to the FTP server without creating a local copy?

We always create a local copy fist before and then copy the data over …

Thank you for your response. Could you please clarify at which stage the file compression occurs in this case?

I am considering commenting out the free space check get_user_disk_usage() in the v-backup-user file. I want to understand how much free space is actually required if the total amount of data to be backed up is 20GB.

we make a full copy of each website and compresses it. So it needs almost 100% the user it requires
