Encrypted password authentication smtp/imap

Hi, I am trying to get exim4 to allow for encrypted password transmission with hestia cp. I am trying to get an undocumented application which only seems to allow CRAM-MD5 (no plaintext auth) to send emails via my hosting platform. As far as I see, the default storage format for email passwords in exim4 with hestiacp is md5, and in the exim4 docs it says the secret (i.e. password) must be in plain for CRAM, so I need to change somehow how the password is stored, but I’m running against walls and my brain feels like mush now

maybe I’m missing something super simple that someone here could help me out with?

In the next version we ad support for ArgonID2 for Buster and Focal (and newer versions)
