Hi there! The core of the problem does not concern HestiaCP itself, rather it is just a general “creative” problem. Tell me, who and how is fighting bots on the site? I have open registration for all users, and I need it to register my friends, but periodically I delete 40 accounts that are clearly created by bots, and apparently AI bots.
I found Anubis Firewall, and I still haven’t quite figured out how to configure it correctly, are there any other options for countering bots? Thanks in advance for your answer!
Easiest thing against bots is to integrate a captcha on that form.
Yes, I tried to do this, the problem is that the standard WordPress registration page (wp-admin/wp-login) is hidden under other links, registration goes through the mini-profile plugin, which has a simple digital captcha, which is surprising, this does not help, I can’t believe that people are registering this way, since registration intervals are approximately 2-3 minutes. Maybe I’m paranoid, but it seems to me that AI bots can already solve this kind of captcha…
I faced this kind of issue on my clients WP site. I implemented a simple script inside functions.php file to delete any user registration on abve ‘5’ existing users inside my WP-DB. But your case is diff.
In my own site, i used a DROPDOWN TO SELECT A NUMBER to choose to submit. This replacing CAPTCHA. Just a bit more tidius task to AI-BOT.. ![]()
These might help:
AIOS I have installed the plugin a long time ago, and it is configured for site strength of 300 out of 590 possible, unfortunately, it does not have protection regarding bots. While I’m reading the manuals on how to set up anubis, I hope it’s compatible with hestia.
I also found information that plugins from DDos could help, so I installed the first one I came across, which had recently been updated. I’ll report the result later!
On AIOS
Navigate to Brute Force → CAPTCHA Settings.
From here, you can enable a CAPTCHA method such as Simple Math CAPTCHA or choose another available option.
This should help.
That’s right,AIOS there are several versions of captcha, including one from Cloudflare.
