This is a dead project compared to CloudPanel which has Ubuntu 24.04 LTS support already.
Edit: average owner, admin, mod and any sort of higher roles are gonna say: We don’t have money to (fulfill) this…
No ones donate to this project because all the moderators keep talking trash in this forum and they don’t help at all. Please, change moderators because the current HestiaCP project is gonna die soon. On the other hand, CloudPanel is not open source but it’s free with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS support and their discord server is helping everyone no matter what the question is…
This project is open source but even with this somewhat is having issues with money and having everything updated?
Soon this is gonna die… I recommend you to change to another panel, it doesn’t have to be CloudPanel but it’s the best option I found to have a free panel.
I know CloudPanel doesn’t have a dns manager, mail system, and other features but you can easily add with 3rd parties open source projects such as mailcow.
I did not make this post for hate but to make HestiaCP panel better.
Theres updates almost daily to HestiaCP you just need to follow Github. I get it not alot of people understand how Github works because its mainly for coders but you can follow them at the link below: You will see what code was commited and the date time stamp of the commited code along with a brief description.
Curious what are you looking for in the new release. HestiaCP has everything I need except which im excited for are Incremental backups and Mail autodiscover which are being worked on and will be be ready for next release which is right around the corner.
I dont think this was ever said, otherwise please proof me wrong. What we currently have, is a personal shortage, some work in a new job, others, like myself, just got way to much to do with family and my own businesses.
So yes, @johnny is right, hestia is under active development - but due to missing personal ressources, it’s hard to find enough time for a release of 1.9.0 respectively fix the remaining issues and do again a deep test.
We’ve got beta1 out, currently it doesnt look bad, but the feedback beeds to be worked trough and also the holiday season is in sight.
About donos: The current monthly income is around 200-300 euros, which helps us to cover the infrastrcuture ressources. We do not use the remaining money for anything else and save it, for example for a potential paid security audit.
I think that was all, so tl;tr: Project alive.
PS: Please feel free to switch over to cloudpanel, no one holds you back :).
I assume next step after 1.9.x will be including reseller abilities.
Instead of making it open source, make it a encoded reseller plugin with 2 resellers free(as a preview to potential buyers and for testing).
If unlimited resellers are needed the business people will not hesitate to pay a small monthly fee for licensing.
Even though it is not a lot of money at the beginning, I think it keeps the project self sustained, alive and kicking instead of just relying on donations.
OP has beef with Hestia, his post history is very telling. Not sure who in the right mind can compare apples to oranges and still maintain a straight face!
People are running an open source project in their free time and are still being attacked. You should be happy that there are still people in the world who provide something like this for free. If you are not satisfied with it and want things, you can always switch to a paid service.
Yet another complain and compere post.
This is open source and free as no money paid for using it. How can you compare closed source like CloudPanel to HestiaCP? People can find a way to complain about everything.
I have to disagree. The moderators of this forum are always civil and the responses of the rest of the community are helpful and swift. I’ve been contributing for many years, and the few occasions where tempers have got frayed, for the most part, were people demanding features or being insulting to other forum members.
Ubuntu 24 would be nice, but it is by no means vital to have, as 20 and 22 are still options, and work fine. More recent versions of php and nginx, and a few others, are provided by external repos. Having said that it is disappointing if you don’t read the instructions first, and start installing on Ubuntu 24, only to have to wipe the server and start again. But that’s only a few minutes’ work.
The moderators always tried to help as per my experience. HestiaCp is a blessing people like us who just want to run their server clean and transparent without any paywall and hidden source.
I don’t understand why you say that. HestiaCP works exceptionally well, the MODs are always active and respond to every question. They even go out of their way to answer questions that are sometimes unrelated to HestiaCP. I’ve always liked and tried many free panels, and in my opinion, there is currently no free panel that is as good, stable, and secure as HestiaCP.
HestiaCP is anything but dead and not gonna die soon thanks to epic team and community behind it!
I’m so so gratefull for this awesome free open source project which took off from VestiaCP and became much better!
Forum’s moderators are very active and amazing!
Personally can’t imagine life without HestiaCP!
We should be more humble and gratefull for the things we recieve for free! Solutions created by amazing super motivated individuals, working and using their own free spare time to benefit US!
I would like to thank all the developers of the HestiaCP project for such a great project that has been maintained for many years. I use only HestaCP on all my servers.
Without a doubt, HestiaCP is probably the best free panel. Some people I recommended it to have told me that one of the best decisions they’ve made was to start using HestiaCP. And all of this is thanks to people who use their time for people like us. For my part, many thanks to the HestiaCP team.
This is just a hate post from someone with much free time,
HestiaCP is not perfect but is the best free solution in the market, receives a lot of updates, specially security updates and devs are always keen to help
