Today I installed Hestia CP on an Ubuntu 24.04 VPS that I also purchased today. I can send emails without any problems, but I can only receive them from certain email applications. The same thing happens with webmail services: if external clients send me emails using Roundcube, I don’t receive them, but if they send them to me from webmails other than Roundcube, I receive them without problems. People who can’t send me emails instantly receive error messages like “SMTP Error 550 - Recipient address rejected - User unknown in virtual mailbox table.”. Thank you so much
What’s your domain? What do you see in Exim’s log (/var/log/exim4/mainlog) when someone tries to send you an email?
My domain is nexo21.com. There’s nothing in mainlog. When someone sends me an email, nothing is logged in mainlog
I don’t receive emails, for example, if they’re sent from Filezilla or Roundcube. I do receive them from other applications and webmails. But, as I said before, nothing is logged in mainlog
Nothing?
The MX record for nexo21.com points to nexo21.com but it must be mail.nexo21.com
It points to nexo21.com instead of mail.nexo21.com because that’s what the hosting company told me it should be. But anyway, I’ll change it and try again
To answer your question, no, mainlog doesn’t log anything. It’s as if the rejection occurred before the email was accepted
In your case, the MX record must be mail.nexo21.com because Hestia adds the valid certificate for that subdomain.
Your mail server identifies itself as nexo21.com, and the PTR of the IP points to that domain, which is correct. You don’t need to change it.
I’ve sent a private message.
It was all a problem with the other server I was trying to send emails from to the server that has Hestia installed. I want to thank Sahsanu for pointing out the problem to me
