Hi all,
I am new to VPS and Hestia
My VPS is Digitalocean, pointed namecheap DNS to Digitalocean"‘s nameserver. Added @ record at Digitalocean to point to my droplet.
May I know what is the next step?
When I setup HestiaCP, I’ve put in hcp.domain .com for my domain.
- I can get in the console by domain .com:8083, but NOT hcp .domain. com:8083. Do I need to create another A record from Digitalocean to point hcp domain to the IP again?
- Next, I am trying to create my own website from there with and without subdomain, i.e. domain.com, test.domain .com…etc. How to let Hestia to manage the IP pointing to domain? or I need to modify from Digitalocean domain page manually?
Actually, in this stage, I don’t need to make my own nameserver, I just want to simplh start my website on domain .com or some subdomains….I dont mind to manage the record from Digitalocean, but juys dunno how to correctly setup from HestiaCP website setting
Thanka
I am not sure I am doing right, but seems it’s up now
Assumption, my domain is jasonwch.com, my VPS IP is 99.99.99.99
I’ve added the following DNS record at Digitalocean console (as my domain name is pointed to Digitalocean nameserver)
A → @ → 99.99.99.99
A → www → 99.99.99.99
CNAME → hcp → jasonwch.com
CNAME → subdomain → jasonwch.com
Then in HestiaCP,
I added the following web domain:
Under admin account, modify → hcp.jasonwch .com
Aliases → none
IP address → 99.99.99.99 (select from dropdown box)
Enable SSL → Check ALL 3 options
Under normal user account added 2
jasonwch .com (UNCHECK “DNS support)
Aliases → www.jasonwch .com
IP address → 99.99.99.99 (select from dropdown box)
Enable SSL → Check ALL 3 options
subdomain.jasonwch .com (UNCHECK “DNS support)
Aliases → none
IP address → 99.99.99.99 (select from dropdown box)
Enable SSL → Check ALL 3 options
That’s the way to configure it. If you are managing the DNS from DigitalOcean, then you must add all the required DNS records there.
As you don’t own neither the domain jasonwch.com nor the IP 99.99.99.99, use example.com and 203.0.113.1 instead (that domain and IP are created to use in this context).
