PHP 8.0 or higher on Ubuntu 20.04

Hi,

Is it possible to install PHP 8.0 or higher if my server is running Ubuntu 20.04 Focal?

In Configure > Web Server, I selected php-8.0, but when I try to set it as the System PHP version, I get this error:
ERROR: Specified PHP version is not installed.

Also, when I try to save the Backend Template PHP-FPM for a domain with PHP-8_0 selected, I get this error:
Error: php-fpm pool doesn't exist

When I try to install it via terminal, I get the following output:

v-add-web-php 8.0

Can anyone help me?

Hi @totorox

Sury dropped support for Ubuntu 20.04, as it only supports LTS releases under standard security maintenance. Standard security maintenance for Ubuntu 20.04 ended on May 25, 2025.

They do offer paid support for Ubuntu Focal, but I’ve never used it.
