Questions about migration to another host

I hope you are well,

I’m planning to move from Hetzner to another company
So,

  1. What are the key aspects I should pay attention to?
  2. I have a forum running on XenForo — what should I be cautious about when migrating it?
  3. Can I just take a backup and restore it, and that’s it?
  4. Do you have any recommendations or best practices to ?

You’ve got it. Assuming you’re using Hestia on both servers, you’ll just need to have the most recent backups (in /backup folder) and restore them on the new server.

Use v-restore-user USERNAME USERNAME.2025-06-11_12-00-00.tar (replacing USERNAME with the username being transferred and USERNAME.2025-06-11_12-00-00.tar with the backup file name).

This restored data is a complete copy of the backup so migration should be fine. The only thing to look out for would be if you have any licenses in your website software etc. (these are sometimes registered to specific IP addresses).

what about the database ? its gonna migrate with the backup just ?

the license is with domain not IP.
