Safe to edit dovecot.conf and exim.conf other related config files?

From reading the docs, I can’t tell if modifying config files like “dovecot.conf” and exim.conf and other related files are safe from updates overwriting them. They don’t seem to have a template like some do.

Or, better yet, is there a list of specific system config files that WILL be overwritten by updates or rebuilds?

yes its save tho modify them. If there is a urgent need to adjust anything, we’ll do it usualy with sed.
