Don’t have an estimate, but it is already supported in 1.9.0 alpha: [Alpha] Hestia 1.9 - Help Wanted!
Which means it will be supported when 1.9.0 is released (but don’t have an estimate for 1.9.0 release, sorry)
So will it be possible to upgrade from 22.04 to 24.04 without reinstalling OS/Hestia?
Currently not …
In Github GitHub - hestiacp/hestiacp: Hestia Control Panel | A lightweight and powerful control panel for the modern web.
you’ve wrote:
Supported platforms and operating systems
- Debian: 12, 11, or 10
- Ubuntu: 24.04 LTS, 22.04 LTS, 20.04 LTS
Finally unclear, is Hestia supports 24.04 or not.
What you see in GitHub is the version 1.9 Alpha, that version will support Ubuntu 24.04 but it has not been released yet, the current version is 1.8.12 and that version doesn’t support Ubuntu 24.04.
I don’t see any branch with codename 1.9 alpha in github source.
Currently main branch is 1.9.0 Alpha version.
I had Hestia CP installed on Ubuntu 22.0.4 and I did “do-release-upgrade -d” to upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS and HestiaCP was working just as before, or am I missing something based on the comments that it is impossible?
BR
Nobody said it is impossible, but it is not supported, it has not been tested on Ubuntu 24.04 so if you want to use 1.8.x on that version, use it at your own risk.
Its been more then 2 months since the release of ubuntu 24.04.1 stable release and still we don’t see any progress on this? Any particular reason? According to me, it should be top priority to support current LTE version. Is there any bottleneck?
Yup, called “personal ressources”. We all work for free in this project, beside our 100% jobs. So its sometimes hard to find time for it.
Sorry, but why do you need 24.04? Hestia software, so, is the latest version (except for MariaBD, which needs to be updated manually), why rush if there is no newer one). I updated for the test, got problems with the panel in terms of SSH did not start, I haven’t figured it out yet, maybe later, also in version 1.9 of Hestia there is no Russian, no matter what system I install it on. In general, in my opinion, there is no need to rush, but you can test it if you want
Hello Raphael!
That is understandable.
However, I see that there are huge changes coming up in the 1.9 alpha. On one side there is an upgrade of the Ubuntu to 24. On the other side many new features are introduced.
My suggestion would be to freeze all feature in 1.8 and to announce them as Hestia 1.9 LTS version for Ubuntu 24 LTS.
All the new features can be slowly introduced in the new versions from 2.x onwards. Once these features in 2.x are tested and gets stable, a new LTS branch can be anounced.
Like this, many can migrate their sites to the new OS upgrade.
