Unable to add, edit or copy files outside public_html

I’m having serious issues with adding, editing or copings files outside public_html: /home/username/web/domain.com. It doesn’t work!

I’m able to add, edit or copy in /home/username/web and also /home/username/web/domain.com/public_html

How can I fix this as most sites I have use CodeIgniter4 framework which places app folders outside public_html

Hello @bruce,

You can’t add anything to /home/username/web/domain.com because of perms used by Hestia (it is like this for security reasons).

Hello @EdwardC, You can’t do it using file manager because when HestiaCP creates the web domain, it changes the perms of dir /$HOMEDIR/$user/web/$domain/ to 551 and that means no write perm so you can’t add neither directories nor files. If you really need it, you could create it as user root. Example using test (as user and group), example.com as domain and Apps as the new dir: mkdir /home/test/web/example.com/Apps chown test:test /home/test/web/example.com/Apps chmod 751 /home/test/web/exa…

If you want to change perms for that dir, keep in mind that if the iste is rebuilt, Hestia will change again them.

Also, if you will use php, maybe you would like to create and add a new php-fpm template to your site adding your new dirs to open_basedir directive.

Hello @damiko193, The first thing you should do is to know why Chevere is trying to use install outside public_html dir, that install should be inside public_html as @Raphael pointed out a few posts above. If you can’t change the install file/dir for whatever reason, you should add /home/admin/web/spinor.skin/install to open_basedir directive. The easiest way would be to add it to file .user.ini inside public_html dir but you can’t do that because the php-fpm template defines open_basedir lik…

Easiest method is use “Costum docroot” and place everything in

/home/username/web/domain.com/public_html/

It will also sort the php open base dir issues …
