all users on host receive a lot of spam every day, how to fix this? spamassassin is enabled, checkbox in “reject spam” is also checked, what else can be done??
Welcome to the internet.
Roughly half of all email is spam. It is hard to avoid completely.
You could disable their mailboxes, but the users might take issue with that.
You could always add a hosted spam filter in front of your mailserver. I have found that to be preferable to continuing to manage on-host filtering solutions.
If you aren’t interested in that method, you can add Bayesian training to teach the local filter more about spam vs ham.
However you opt to adjust the filtering rules, that is ultimately what is required to stop more spam.
As @linkp said, training spamassassin could filter more spam but keep in mind that spamassassin needs minimum 200 messages to start learning and you must train spamassassin with both; spam messages and legitimate messages (ham).
If you are not using block list in Exim (Hestia adds by default (bl.spamcop.net
and zen.spamhaus.org
) and this helps to stop a lot of spammers.
Also, adding a block list to the firewall will help too, Hestia also includes a block list with name blacklist that you can enable using this doc:
How do i setup an ipset blacklist or whitelist?
Once you have created the ipset, you can add a firewall rule to drop all the connections from that ipset.
With that you will block a lot of spammers.
I don’t think you’ve browsed the HestiaCp forum.
just help if you can @mih , I don’t need your thoughts professor about my actions, an be kind please
Thank you @sahsanu as always, the only decent person
…and when you still get some spam emails every day like I do (more or less the same ones only little things changes all the time) you can play with /etc/spamassassin/custom_SA-rules.cf
and generate your own/specific add-on rules for SpamAssassin
thank you @heart1010
