What is the TimeTable for debian 13?

i mean? has this been posted? not rushing. not complaining ill just boot a 12 but honest question?
what would be hestiacp timetable for 13?

kind regards

There is no time table available. Dovecot made some big configuration changes with its new version on 13, it will take time and work to adapt it. All other parts seems to run fine.

The beta version is already being updated

Dovecot? ohh gee, im not that deep into their stuff… i just wanna VM debian in 2min & forget it till its broken!
i mean, sudo has been 0-day’d while fixed there is only su now. one can’t login to hestiacp users using su - or su -l

i get it, dove wants to chearlead away from what they think is best for their goals…
it just complicates everything, wont stop me…

i used to simply use nvm, all my .service files where build for /home/hestiacp-user/.nvm/etc/… now i have to really build nodejs, copy it to /usr/bi lucky its simple cuss now we got a unified simple nodejs3000 solution… i remember even building my own nodejs port opener focused on my needs.

so much has changed in soo little time.

Mind me asking cuss im curious, i already mod my own hestiacp so, what was changed that is hindering hestiacp from installing on 13?

like i never dove into that are of the OS

it totally blew my mind…

So, is it alright for those not installing dovecot ?

hi wait a bit before installing the last version that is ALWAYS more or less in beta. my team tested this few days ago and there was a lot of things not working/unstable. remind that most of the soft are not developped for the 13 version. wait a bit. also the 12 version is the long time maintained so i would strongly recommend u to stay on this version, the 13 will not be long term maintained. have a happy new year.

Why would you say that? Debian only releases LTS, which means that every Debian release is long term maintained.

hi depend what is really beside lts. “The Debian Long Term Support (LTS) Team hereby announces that Debian 10 buster support will reach its end-of-life on June 30, 2024, nearly five years after its initial release on July 6th, 2019. Starting in July, Debian will not provide further security updates for Debian 10.15 jui” they have been changing a lot of things for the 12 and unified grafic driver are now better for gaming than proprietary ones, so i really think the 12 will be a very good ref in time…. until they reach another real technical step which will be the next one the 14 and therefore more lts.

ok i see wat u mean “The Debian release life cycle encompasses five years: the first three years of full support followed by two years of Long Term Support (LTS)” for example the 9 version still supported.

It isn’t, though. Even 10 is no longer supported, as you already noted. 9 was out of support some years before 10 left support.

Here is a handy third-party reference site:

Keep in mind that Debian 9 is currently under ELTS (Extended Long Term Support). This support is not managed by the Debian project at all, neither security patches nor infrastructure. It is also a paid service (free for individuals and non-profit organizations) provided by Freexian and it comes with several limitations.

Additionally, Debian 13 is the current stable release.

ok look internet still maintained by a team. i used not to use the last version of debian because too much problem for more than 15 years. ok it was in the professional music field and not network. but as far as i remember this was always too much messy even for the network field, too much dependencies conflict and so on. and the current topic remind me exactly what i try to say u.

every version don t bring the same amount of technical possibilities and from my point of view, it works almost every 2 version. when one is really relevant the next one is not that much. however if u find ur heaven in the 13…. i m happy..

the main argument beeing that the soft are not yet developped and also therefore more buggy. i strongly advise u to wait if u don t want to loose too much time like i did for some holy shits.. now back to hestia work. happy new year!!

ps: if the 9th version is still supported and not the 10th there may be several technical reasons
